Rhodium is a silver-white coloured metal, and is the most expensive precious metal in the world. Rhodium, by weight, costs about six times as much as gold. Rhodium’s appeal is due to its high reflectance. It is used as an alternative to silver in jewellery, on which it is often plated.

Bring Your Jewellery Back to Life With Rhodium Plating

Rhodium is a silver coloured metal that is found in platinum ores. The most frequently used way of applying a rhodium finish is through electroplating. This process causes a thin layer of rhodium to stick to the surface of another metal. Rhodium plating looks good on white gold items where it enhances and protects the underlying metal.

Taking Care of Rhodium Plated Jewellery
To ensure that rhodium plated jewellery lasts as long as possible, you need to regularly clean it with a mixture of mild soap and water. Never use a chemical cleaner on rhodium plated items, or place them in an ultrasonic cleaner that uses chemicals. Do not use polishing cloths designed for gold or silver jewellery, and ensure rhodium plated pieces are not kept in contact with hard surfaces. A non-abrasive micro-fibre cloth is ideal for the task.

You should let your makeup and perfume dry before you put on rhodium- plated jewellery. Wash makeup off jewellery with water and store it in a protective box. If you look after your rhodium plated jewellery, it will keep its fantastic finish for a great number of years.
